Ashley Graham Says People Told Her She'd Never Cover a Magazine — as She Covers British Vogue
Ashley Graham has been pretty open about her journey toward becoming a top model. The short version? It wasn't exactly easy. While the model appears on the January '17 cover of British Vogue, she revealed in the interview that, at one point, she was told she would never be a cover model.
"For 10 years I'd been told I was always going to be a catalogue girl, never a cover girl. Well, I got with IMG and did five covers in a year, boom, boom, boom."
Yet while landing her first-ever Vogue cover may be the ultimate prove-them-wrong moment, Ashley says her current success won't keep her from continuing to work hard.
"See, if you have a pretty face doors will open, but your job isn't just to walk through them, it's to get invited back. Look, I hit the beauty jackpot, I get it, but that's not enough, you've got to have more to have longevity in this business. It's always been, 'OK, so what can I do now?'"
